Flacso Paraguay Program

The Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) is an international organization constituted by 18 Member States and currently develops academic activities in 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. FLACSO Paraguay is one of these programs. FLACSO in Paraguay dates back to 1971, when the Paraguayan Center for Sociological Studies (CPES) and FLACSO Chile organized the "Regional Course on Social Sciences", with the participation of a large number of FLACSO faculty members. Since then, relations between FLACSO and the Paraguayan academic community have been active. As a result of this relationship and in view of the imminent need for greater development of the social sciences in the country, FLACSO's presence at the national level was affirmed. Paraguay officially enters FLACSO on December 5, 2005, when both chambers of the Paraguayan Congress signed Law No. 2836, which approved the "Agreement on the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences"(FLACSO).
