Founded in 2007 in historic downtown Kalispell, the Flathead Beacon is an award-winning, independent media company delivering free public-service journalism across Northwest Montana. With a strong focus on accountability reporting, in-depth storytelling, and community trust, we shine a light on the critical issues facing our region. Our newsroom, frequently recognized for excellence in journalism, advertising, and design, was featured by the Columbia Journalism Review and named one of Outside Magazine’s “Best Places to Work in the U.S.” We proudly maintain one of Montana’s top-rated news websites and publish a suite of high-quality print publications including Flathead Living, Glacier Journal, Flathead Family Magazine, Shop Local, and the Menu Guide.
