Flores & Prats Architects

Flores & Prats is an architecture studio founded in Barcelona by Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats. The office is dedicated to the confrontation of theory and academic practice with the design and constructive activity. Biography Flores & Prats is an architecture studio founded in Barcelona by Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats. The office is dedicated to the confrontation of theory and academic practice with the design and constructive activity. The office is established in 1998, after winning the competition of the Master Plan for the Renovation of the Historical Quartier of Vilanova i la Geltrú. They have been authors of facilities buildings, such as the Nuevo Triunfo Hotel (Barcelona, 2001), the Mills Museum (Palma, 2002), the Yute’s Warehouse (Barcelona, 2005), or the Campus for the New Headquarters of Microsoft (Milan, 2011); collective housing, such as the Building for 48 Dwellings (Guissona, 2005) or the Building (Terrassa, 2010); urban public spaces, such as the Fabra & Coats Gardens (Barcelona, or Pius XII Square (Barcelona, 2005); and of design of site-specific installations for major cultural institutions and museums, including Tàpies Foundation, Miró Foundation and Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. At the moment they are completing the construction of the Cultural Centre Palau Balaguer in Palma de Mallorca, and, in Barcelona, they have just won the competition for the New Theatre Sala Beckett-Obrador Internacional de Dramatúrgia. Eva and Ricardo have been Visiting Professors at universities in Spain, Argentina, Italy, Denmark, Norway, USA, United Kingdom and Australia, at the moment they are Associated Professors in Design Studio at the School of Architecture of Barcelona ETSAB-UPC. They are authors of several architectural essays, and of the books John Hejduk. House for a Poet, Edicions UPC, Through the Canvas, ACTAR, 2008, and Mesurar Pompeia, Edicions ETSAB 2012.
