Flow Works

Flow Works is a design studio working across the UK and Ireland, dedicated to creating beautiful, soulful buildings and spaces. We have a holistic approach to design encompassing architecture, interiors, furnishings and landscaping, collaborating with specialist builders and makers to bring it all to life. Our portfolio to date spans new build homes, extensions, reconfigurations of existing homes, conservation projects and repurposing existing structures—including the transformation of an old bank into a medical center and the conversion of a Dutch barn in Somerset into a retreat space. Joy, intuition and imagination guide our design process us as we seek ways to enrich the essence and spirit of the people and places we work with. We deeply engage with the wider physical context, its historical significance, local character, materials and skills, the surrounding community and most importantly, our clients. We listen, and we celebrate their values, interests, and their vision for life so that designs become the embodiment of their own personal story or that of the end user. This approach, we believe, plays a significant role in sustainable design - in meaningful buildings and spaces being loved and cherished for years to come. Flow Works was founded in 2020 by Rachael Connaughton, a qualified ARB registered architect. Originally from Co Roscommon in Ireland, Rachael moved to London to pursue her architectural studies in 2009. She completed her RIBA Part 1 at the University of East London and her RIBA Part 2 at Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture, and Design at London Metropolitan University. In 2017, she completed her professional training at Cambridge University. Prior to establishing Flow Works, she spent seven years working in the heritage sector at BDP. During her time there, she played a significant role in the Restoration and Renewal of the Houses of Parliament as one of the design leads within the architectural team.
