In my early college days, I received a life-altering phone call. It was the kind of call that no one ever wants to get—a family member had fallen victim to domestic violence. This hit me hard, dredging up memories of my own turbulent upbringing in a home marred by domestic abuse. The weight of that news was almost unbearable, and I found myself struggling to cope. Fast forward eight years, and I was hit with another emotional blow. My best friend, someone who lived just a block away from me, went missing. It was a nightmarish ordeal that ended three agonizing months later when her lifeless body was discovered in the Mississippi River. These traumatic events took up residence in my mind, occupying precious space and inflicting profound suffering. Yet, amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged. My mother, a beacon of resilience, chose to escape her own harrowing situation when I was just a child of six. Her brave decision taught me a crucial lesson—even in the bleakest of days, we possess the gift of choice. My unwavering passion stems from the transformative journey I embarked on to mend my emotional well-being. It required me to assemble a formidable arsenal of self-awareness practices and tools, equipping me with the ability to regulate my emotions in a healthier manner. Today, my purpose is clear: I strive to extend the same access to these essential tools to other women who seek a more nurturing internal relationship with themselves.
