Footprint Ecology is an independent consultancy specialising in high quality research relating to nature conservation, especially in relation to recreation and public access. Our activities include: • Visitor surveys and counts, especially to countryside and protected sites (ie SPA, SAC etc) • Assessing impacts of recreation on protected and sensitive wildlife sites, and bird disturbance • HRAs (Habitats Regulations Assessments) • Designing mitigation for recreational pressure, eg SANGs, visitor management strategy • Management of common land, especially management plans, public consultations and, where necessary, planning applications for fencing to allow grazing management • Heathland management • Statistical analysis and modelling • GIS mapping • Training in HRAs and recreation, bird disturbance and GIS
