CNC milling technology for thermoplastic foam, decades of extensive medical research, and a focus on biomechanics and neuromotor function. Developed for retail and medical use. EXPRESS Express Orthotics are a ready-fit medical insole that sits in the shoe to support and improve the natural posture of feet. Our Express range is a prefabricated, heat-compression moulded EVA device based on the proven Formthotics shape. Sold as a kit with a supportive heel cup and arch support that can be adjusted for the treatment of lower limb injuries. OUR STORY Our story began with a footprint in the sand and a realisation that our feet were never designed to cope with the hard, flat and unforgiving surfaces of our modern day environment. It was 1970s New Zealand. Doctor and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Charlie Baycroft, was looking for a more effective way to treat patients with common foot problems. Meanwhile, co-inventor of Formthotics, professional skier (at the time), boot fitter and now Director of Foot Science International, David Boyd, had discovered how custom orthotics improved his skiing and the comfort of his boots. He researched the use of thermoplastic foam to make custom orthotics and developed prototypes for testing. A chance meeting with Dr. Baycroft gave them the opportunity to share ideas, combine product designs and build a legacy—40 years in the making. A lot has changed since then, but our purpose remains front of mind: to develop and improve products to keep people active and mobile.
