The mission of Fostering Connections is to improve the lives of abused and neglected children in Tulsa and contiguous counties by providing resources and building community.*Fostering Connections holds events for, and in support of, foster families throughout the year.*We are here to build onto the foster care community. Our programs are designed to help ease transitions for families and kids.*Often relative/kinship families are asked to provide emergency placements with no prior notice due to immediate safety threats to the children. The children often enter foster care without appropriate shoes, coats, clothing and other necessary personal items.*Due to federal mandates and requirements relative/kinship foster parents cannot begin receiving foster care reimbursement for several months. The FFRC, through our partnership with DHS, will provide immediate access to required basic needs including beds/cribs/clothing /car seats and other items at initial placement and continued monthly support as needed.*Fostering Connections views foster family retention as a component of our success. Foster families who feel supported continue to provide homes and create meaningful bonds and relationships that are so desperately needed by the abused and neglected children we serve.*MOBILE FOSTER FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER Like our brick-and-mortar Foster Family Resource Center (FFRC), our Mobile Foster Family Resource Center (mFFRC) is designed to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of children in foster care. The mFFRC is a first-year project funded by an Innovation Grant from Tulsa Area United Way.*CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS This long-running program allows each child in out-of-home placement in Tulsa County to request two specific gifts of their choice that they hope to receive for Christmas. The Tulsa community has always shown its’ generous support by meeting the children’s wishes! The 2019 Christmas for Kids program provided gifts to over 1,400 children!*More info online.
