Fostering Sustainability

Mission Statement: Fostering sustainability in educational institutions that want to model the principles of sustainable development and make decisions that balance economic prosperity, social justice and ecological considerations. Stephanie Foster, President of Fostering Sustainability works with independent schools, colleges and universities that want to become "Green Schools". In other words, schools that want to embody the values of environmental stewardship, contribute to sustainable development by acting locally to reduce environmental impacts, and, perhaps most importantly, to become places where young people can learn about new ways to live lightly on this Earth. A customized approach to greening helps clients to take small steps to reduce their ecological footprints or larger strides to green facilities and operations, school life, curriculum and professional development. Either way, Fostering Sustainability wants to help our clients to work on strategies to ensure that a school’s greening efforts lead to long-lasting institutional change.
