Based in the UK and Spain, FOTOSYNTHESIS is a team of professional photographers, filmmakers, educators, facilitators, and participatory methods practitioners that uses creative and inclusive audiovisuals as a tool to engage, educate, and create new narratives with 15 years of experience. We have a human-centred, intuitive, sensitive, and engaging approach to working with people to represent them positively and with dignity. We offer: PHOTOVOICE: participatory action research methodology using photography. We design, accompany, and implement inclusive and creative processes and staff training tailored to the needs of your programmes.(M&E, advocacy, community engagement.) PARTICIPATORY PHOTOGRAPHY: Working with a group for self-expression and self-representation. CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY: To make photography accessible to anyone, take time and allow human connections to take place. Workshops range from digital to self-portraiture, darkroom to cameraless. We tailor them to meet the project and participants’ needs. CLASSROOM: Use audiovisuals in the classrooms as catalysts for oral and written expression. Learning Through Photography methodology, we stimulate visual literacy, teamwork, communication skills, engagement, creativity, self-thinking, and self-esteem. PEACE PHOTOGRAPHY: To catalyse processes of healing both within and between communities can increase levels of understanding and empathy. An image can represent multiple people’s experiences of conflict and peace, allowing divergent perspectives and commonalities and healing. AUDIO-VISUAL PRODUCTION & CO-CREATION: We believe that positive and inspiring stories bring hope and direct actions and that we need narratives to communicate what works rather than what doesn’t work by producing videos with strong ethics. CONSULTANCY: We tailor our training and consultancy to your needs, from NGO staff training in photovoice research or storytelling to participatory photography methods.
