Adults aren’t doing better — over 40% struggle with chronic stress And yet, most people have never been taught how their emotions, body, or nervous system actually work. Foundation Matters is here to change that. We are a Latina, majority women, and veteran-led nonprofit revolutionizing mental wellness through one radical idea: When people understand their emotions and biology, they become their own best healers. Our mission is bold: Educate. Empower. Transform. We go where mental health truly begins — homes, schools, hospitals, and communities — teaching parents, educators, and children science-based tools to build emotional resilience long before crisis. Our signature B.R.E.A.T.H. Method™ (Breathe, Rest, Eat, Activate, Thank, Hydrate) turns everyday habits into a proven nervous-system regulation practice. This isn’t self-care as a trend. This is self-care as neuroscience. We make mental health fun, accessible, and stigma-free. Through workshops, emotional-literacy tools, journals, children’s books, school programs, and community events, we help families reconnect with the body’s wisdom and the power of emotional awareness. Because mental health isn’t about labels. It’s about connection, understanding, and the confidence to navigate life with resilience. This is not therapy. This is transformation.
