Foundations Supporting Families

Foundations: Supporting Families is a small charity dedicated to supporting children and their families through times of separation. Whether separation arises from family breakdown, Local Authority involvement, or adoption, our aim is to help parents and children maintain communication, navigate transitions, and rebuild relationships where contact has been lost. Based in Chatham, Kent, we provide independent supervised contact services where risks, lack of trust, or long gaps in contact exist. We also offer supported contact, creating a safe and appropriate environment when contact has been disrupted or unavailable elsewhere. Foundations: Supporting Families is enhanced accredited by the National Association of Child Contact Centres and works closely with CAFCASS, Swan Family and local authorities to deliver specialist contact services where significant issues or risks are present. Alongside our contact services, we have developed Impact, a programme designed to help parents understand the effects of separation on themselves and their children. Grounded in research and extensive experience, the programme provides guidance and strategies to reduce the emotional impact of separation, with a focus on ensuring children remain supported and protected. The programme also addresses issues such as child maintenance, which many separating parents find challenging.
