Foxglove Alliance

The Foxglove Alliance is a coalition of mostly not-for-profit organizations dedicated to improving public health in the Chicago metropolitan area through focused collaborations to develop new initiatives and programs, networking & educational events, issue identification/resolution and outreach & promotion to and/or with a variety of NGO's and public and private sector entities and individuals. Sponsored by the Hektoen Institute of Medicine, members include the Healthcare Council of Chicago (HC#), the Illinois Medical District, the Institute of Medicine of Chicago, the Michael Reese Education and Research Foundation, the Portes Foundation, West Side United, the I Am Abel Foundation, Access to Care, the Illinois Association of Free & Charitable Clinics, the Trauma, Health Equity and Neurobiology Center (THEN), the Chicagoland Healthcare Workforce Collaborative, the Lead Abatement Resource Center and the Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago. Notable projects include the passage of the Illinois Drug Reuse Opportunity Program Act (I-DROP) which incorporated the creation of a grassroots coalition of organizations and individuals to allow the donation of unopened, unused, prescription drugs to free and charitable clinics in the State of Illinois and the still evolving M3R Campaign. M3R stands for More Minorities in Medical Research which has the dual goals of increasing the participation of Black and Hispanic Chicago residents of all ages to participate in medical/clinical trials and nurturing the creation and growth of pipelines for Chicago Hispanic and Black youth to enter into careers in health care with an emphasis on increasing the number of Black and HIspanic physicians in the U.S.
