The Foundation for Preventive Medicine and Awareness (FPMA) was established in 2018, to raise awareness, change the perception and educate the population on the importance of reducing non-communicable disease prevalence. We are usually more accustomed to the concept of how we can treat disease. However, the majority of the population often neglect the notion of how disease occurrence can be prevented. We believe that there is a severe lack of research and awareness on reducing the prevalence of non-transmissible chronic diseases (NTCDs). These often include cancer, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis and asthma. But also conditions associated with mental health such as anxiety, depression and anger that often get overlooked. 95% of current research is spent on combating diseases with less than 5% on preventing them. Country wide healthcare services are on the brink of losing control due to the burden of surgeries, treatments, therapies and medications that often could have been prevented. The activities under FPMA will encompass, multi-disciplinary research, awareness drives, health promotion campaigns, latest news and updates on preventive research from around the globe. Modern day research will be at the core of the foundations aims and objectives and will be conducted with our university-based partners. From UK national surveys to in vitro studies on epigenetics, FPMA is determined to change the norm and bring the concept of "reducing disease prevalence" to the forefront of medical research. Our mission is to help "prevent the preventable".
