Playful design methodologies to make existing structures visible, help people ask better questions of them, and imagine alternatives. We design playful participation tools for our public and digital spaces, our civic processes, and our wicked problems. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? We are designers and full-stack developers. There are a few strands to our work: 1. We design mapping tools for communities to build their own datasets from lived experience, and ways for that data to influence policy. We create imaginative and immersive public space games for bringing people together to explore challenging subjects (climate crisis, smart cities) 3. We work with the public sector, funders and policymakers who want tools for thinking in systems and for creating more participatory processes. Partners in Understory:
