Free Throws For Kids

Free Throws for Kids (FTFK) is a 100% volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to bringing hope, comfort, and practical support to patients and families at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House—one free throw at a time. Since our first event in 2014, FTFK has raised over $1.6 million, directly benefiting families facing medical challenges in our community. Each spring, hundreds of participants gather at Lakota West High School to shoot free throws, have fun, and make a real impact. Teams of 4–10 people take on the challenge of collectively shooting 500 free throws—no basketball skills required (granny shots count!). With 40+ hoops, live scoring, prizes, and free feed, the event is filled with energy, laughter, and purpose. Here’s how we put the funds to work to support families in need: care packages given each year for patients and families at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, filled with comfort items and gift cards for meals and donated every month to the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for over 177 families annually granted to Cincinnati Children’s Liberty social services to meet urgent, real-time needs.
