freegrids is a Swedish non-profit research and advocacy organization committed to advancing sustainable development within the energy landscape and achieving energy security for all through the establishment of decentralized, clean, affordable, and reliable energy ecosystems. We aim to achieve this by: Empowering individuals and communities to locally generate, consume, and share clean energy, while simultaneously eradicating energy poverty and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Spearheading the decentralization of energy systems and advocating for the widespread adoption of self-owned electricity grids. Conducting research, strategic advocacy, and offering practical solutions. Engaging with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and communities. Overcoming barriers to energy decentralization and envisioning a future where individuals and communities have full control over their energy choices.
