Frew
Since the beginning of time the Elders have had strong visions of a bass driven, party rockin', tech-electro sound. Now the year is 2008 and such visions have manifested into conscience reality – through one artist, known only as fRew,(with a capital R). He’s an Australian DJ/Producer that augments your club experience to greater heights. He hypnotizes even the most blasé bodies with his amazing and unique style of dance floor rhythms. In early 2007, fRew reached the next level by writing his own music and signing with the world’s fastest growing and forward thinking label, Vacation Records. Descriptive words such as “Tight!” & “Wicked, Fucking Wicked!” from Ali B (Fabric / Air Recordings) and Smithmonger are used to sum up fRew’s incredibly catchy yet cutting edge re rub of Bass Kleph's ‘Bump Uglies’. UK’s Jnr J was left baffled stating, “This fRew character is mental, he's not done a track I don't love!” Another fuckin bomb! I love it!” accompanied with Australian Ministry of Sound’s Tim McGee “Me likey!” Laurent Garnier complimenting with “This sounds fucked up and nasty! This thing destroys every dance floor it comes into contact with!”…it’s obvious fRew is a hit. fRew was given the opportunity to remix ex-1200 Techniques front man N’fa’s ‘Get Doh’ alongside label owner and mentor Bass Kleph. fRew's remix has not only ignited dance floors globally but it has reached number seven on the Beatport electro house charts. ‘Get Doh’ received generous chunks of airtime on Australia's Triple J and has been collecting kudos from as far away as South Africa with Mark Webb professing, “tight, rocking and just the thing I like. More of this please!” fRew’s original tune ‘Shake With It’ picked up much respect worldwide from artists including Micky Slim and The Bass Bin Twins, who dug the original sound, “Fantastic! Good to hear some quality in a sea of so – so productions”, while his remix of Bass Kleph’s ‘Coup d’etat’ rated equally as strong, garnering props from Way Out West with the massive claim, “this is how electro house should be done!”. Following this was fRew's floor thumping electro remix of the Shopliftas ‘Freak Out’ which not only made a lot of noise but was rated an 8/10 by the Plump DJ’s, calling the tune “excellent” – a direct reflection of fRew’s strong production work from the heavyweights themselves. Despite a busy schedule fRew still finds the time to push the envelope in the studio by hosting Beat Box Radio with Bass Kleph on 2SER 107.3FM every Friday afternoon. Broadcasting the best in top shelf tech, electro house and breaks all over Sydney, their podcasts reach the rest of the world via iTunes with over downloads to date - further evidence of fRew’s ability to capture a global audience.
