First launched in 2004, Frontline Design, Inc. is the premiere facility in providing specialty costuming, prosthetics, and animatronics effects in the film industry. Founder Shownee Smith started the company shortly before landing the Sony Pictures “Spiderman 3” movie, bringing fresh and cutting edge design techniques to all practical elements for the film. Frontline has a keen ability to assemble both union and non-union personnel of the utmost talent – both technically savvy and artistically driven – fully capable of taking on any project – bringing the most ambitious of designs to fruition.With square feet and the newest tools and technology, Frontline can house as many as 60 artists working simultaneously. Like a well-oiled machine, they guarantee the project will be completed with precision and on schedule.With an in-house staff of skilled designers, the production process begins with detailed illustrations, followed by sculpting the design, the build, and finally, delivery. There is communication with the client every step of the way to ensure the product is correct, down to the finest detail. Our specialty costuming and makeup departments utilize the latest material technologies to fabricate creatures and characters that look authentic and screen ready. Drawing upon the talents of the finest artists and technicians in the field, Frontline has secured its spot among the most prestigious costuming and effects shops in the industry.
