Fulton County Regional Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regional or FCRSPCA, for short) had its humble beginnings as Regional Animal Shelter, which was founded in 2002. Regional started as a grassroots group of dedicated animal advocates whose primary goal was to design, construct, and staff a new state-of-the-art animal shelter to serve our region. Our current location, at 117 West Fulton St in Gloversville, opened in May of 2012 and is 576 sq ft, has 8 kennels, and no safe space for other species of animals. We are 100% volunteer-run, and we receive no funding from government or national organizations (i.e. ASPCA, HSUS, etc.). In 2018, the decision was made to reincorporate as an SPCA to better serve the neediest animals in our community. Reincorporation was finished in 2019 and we began full operations as FCRSPCA in January of 2020. In 2025, we purchased a building to retrofit into an animal shelter to better serve the needs of the animals and people in our community. FCRSPCA is more than “just an animal shelter” – we can be found doing many other things to make a difference in our community. • Our Pet Food Pantry helps our community feed their pets to keep pets in homes and out of shelters and distributing. • Our R.A.S.E program educates our youth, in both classroom settings and in our Junior Intern program. • Our Safe Haven program houses pets of domestic violence survivors while they seek support and safety. These programs, and others, will be expanded once we are in our new facility.
