Gamechangers Foundation
GameChangers is a historical, sports documentary film that is available FREE to view on the foundation website, The story began over 50 years ago when two high school basketball teams played in back to back years for the right to go downstate. The Marshall versus New Trier match-ups in 1965 and 1966 took place during a very turbulent time, and the top two teams in the Chicago area came from very different backgrounds. One city team, one suburban, one from a black community, the other white. The games included some great basketball, plenty of drama and the film details all of that history. When the two teams reunited 50 years later to watch 8mm film of their younger selves, the long dormant conversations produced a new slate of memories and connections. This 77 minute film debuted in 2018 and played in theaters, at festivals and aired multiple times on both local and national television networks. The film also sparked a foundation that awards grants to deserving high school seniors and community influencers, predominately on the West Side of the city.
