Gbs Switzerland

GBS is a think tank for the application of critical, rational thinking to the intersection of science and ethics. On this basis, it advances evolutionary humanism and supports political priorities resulting from an ethically and empirically informed worldview. Critical thinking is especially important in this context because it is our only insurance against historical errors: Up until few centuries ago, we were “certain” that we were the center of a small world that exists for our benefit. Similarly, we were “certain” that it is a good idea to shun rational, critical thinkers or even burn them at the stake – which is what happened to Giordano Bruno, for instance. Not long ago, most of society was unable to recognise racist slavery, sexism or homophobia as the moral absurdities they are. This raises the question: What are the historical errors of today that we are hardly able to spot? How can we recognize the patterns (biases) in our errors and avoid them in the future?
