Genetic Diagnostic Laboratories

Genetic Diagnostic Laboratories (GDL) is a full-service Cytogenetic testing laboratory licensed by the State of New York Department of Health since 1986 to perform a broad range of cytogenetic services. When critical and immediate results matter most, GDL is a laboratory that offers superior turnaround times and utilizes the most up-to-date technological methods for chromosome analysis. GDL performs cytogenetic procedures combined with high resolution banding and molecular techniques such as FISH and offers genomic microarray analysis to provide rapid and comprehensive results. Optimized technology for amniotic cell growth allows prenatal diagnosis as early as 15 weeks gestational age. GDL provides personal attention to samples that require additional testing by our partnership network of NYS licensed Reference Laboratories. Each sample is monitored by the Director and staff with special attention to turnaround time and interpretation of results for physician and patient reassurance. Following physician counseling, the Laboratory Director is available to discuss reproductive options prior and subsequent to prenatal diagnostic testing.
