At Genovese Drug Stores, Inc, our mission is to be the leading neighborhood drug store caring primarily for the health care needs of the individual, the family and the community. We value our customers and will make an extended effort to be responsive to their needs. It's our intent to provide quality products, services and value in clean, friendly, convenient locations. Founded by Joseph Genovese in Astoria, Queens on June 7, 1924, there were some 139 stores spread throughout the tri-state area by the 1990s. Genovese was acquired by JC Penney subsidiary Eckerd in 1998, and the brand was retired in 2003. Eckerd was sold to Rite Aid in 2007.
