Geoinformatics It

Geoinformatics is comprised of two words, Geo meaning Earth and Informatics meaning information; in simple language it implies to the information related to our Mother Earth. Through data analysis, geoinformatics is one powerful technology to support basic scientific inquiry as well as address complex social and environmental challenges. It collects and organizes the data and then analyzes it through computation and geo-visualization. In this article, we are giving the concept, branches, and scope of geoinformatics, which will enhance the knowledge of the reader. In scientific language, it is being described as the “science and technology dealing with the structure and character of spatial information, its capture, its classification and qualification, its storage, processing, portrayal and dissemination, including infrastructure necessary to secure optimal use of this information.”
