George Stone Limited: A Legacy of Craftsmanship Since 1933 Founded in 1933 as George Stone (Folkestone) Limited, our company has grown through nearly a century of dedication to quality building and renovation. In 1942, we expanded into the Hastings area, acquiring Adams & Jarrett Limited in 1944. This led to the formation of George Stone (Hastings) Limited in 1958, marking a new chapter in our regional presence. In 1980, the company was acquired by Durrant Brothers, but following their closure in the early 1990s, George Stone was revitalized by John Christie Limited — owners of Glyndebourne Productions. Under their stewardship, we enjoyed a stable and successful trading history in St. Leonards-on-Sea. A rebranding in 2003 saw us officially become George Stone Limited. In 2023, leadership transitioned to Peter Scoones and Karen Goodman, formerly Deputy MD and HR & Training Manager, who relocated the company to the historic town of Battle.
