Georgia Bar Foundation
The Georgia Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Supreme Court of Georgia. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused primarily on promoting access to justice in Georgia. One of the ways the GBF promotes access to justice is by awarding grants to qualified organizations. The primary source of funding for GBF grants is the Interest On Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program. The GBF may also receive and distribute funds from other sources, including contributions or other fees assigned to be received by the Foundation. Grants may be awarded to an organization for one or more of the following purposes- Supporting legal services (especially civil legal aid) for Georgians who lack access or are experiencing poverty - Aiding children involved in the justice system - Improving the administration of justice - Promoting professionalism in the practice of law - Providing legal education to Georgia’s children - Providing educational programs for adults in order to advance understanding of democracy and our government
