GetIn is a company focused on improving the college admissions process at a low cost process for all parties involved: college counselors, admissions officers and college applicants and their families. A first of its kind start-up, GetIn utilizes the Wisdom of Crowds theory that a diverse collection of independently-deciding individuals is likely to make certain types of decisions and predictions better than individuals or even experts on their own. Wisdom of Crowds has proven overly successful in Fortune 500 companies and governmental affairs, but until now, has never before been applied to college admissions. GetIn harnesses the power of the student body (the crowd) at leading colleges and universities to, first, better predict an applicant’s chance of gaining admittance to that college or university, and, second, improve that student’s overall application. Strategically chosen and perpetually monitored, GetIn’s crowd at each college and university is the backbone of the operation. These students are handsomely rewarded for 1) accurately predicting a student’s admittance/denial and 2) positively improving each application. Conversely, members of the crowd will be removed if their predictions are inaccurate and/or suggestions are substandard. As discussed earlier, this tool will benefit all parties involved in the college admissions process.
