GetSkills is social initiative started by a group of working IT Professionals in New Zealand sharing a common goal of upskilling New Zealand’s unemployed people and graduates on various practical IT skills. Recruitment Process for the Program GetSkills maintains a very high standard in recruiting candidates for the up skilling program. A team spokesperson says that they understand how important it is to have a good resource in a software team for successful project delivery. Candidates are put through a rigorous selection process. The Process involves Submit EOI and CV to show their intent in building a software testing career. Online Mental Ability Test, covering questions on puzzles, logical reasoning, situation reaction and decision making. Personal interview with an industry expert. GetSkills has set up an easy-to- access platform where, in a matter of minutes, businesses can access key information on all the up skilled candidates. This is all available at no cost to the potential employer. This initiative is based on the “Pay it forward” idea where these candidates once placed will work in up skilling other unemployed people and helping them into employment. The ultimate objective is to bring the unemployment numbers down in the NZ and help the IT sector fill roles where there’s currently a shortage.
