gIcare pharma is a clinical-stage, GI specialty company specialized in the development of novel colonic analgesic drugs for the visceral pain management of patients undergoing sedation-free, full colonoscopy. Such colonic analgesic drugs are non-centrally-acting opioid agonist with affinity to kappa and mu opioid receptor, capable of releasing a gaseous mediator, hydrogen sulfide. Colonoscopy is a major burden for governments and third-party payers, especially in the US.
