Gift From The Heart

Gift from the Heart (GFTH) is a registered Canadian charity connecting oral health care professionals with vulnerable individuals who face barriers to accessing essential dental care. While Canada now has a Federal Dental Care Plan (CDCP), launched in May 2025 and open to all ages, it does not cover 100% of current fees charged by dental professionals. As a result, many Canadians still struggle to afford the care they need — especially those without private insurance or those relying on programs such as Ontario Works (OW) and the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). Gift from the Heart began in 2008 as a one-day event for dental hygienists and has since evolved into a nonprofit charity with both a Mobile Dental Trailer and an Outreach Dental Clinic based in Trenton, Ontario. Together, these initiatives provide preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care to individuals with and without dental insurance. We are proud to provide life-changing and life-saving treatment to community members who have gone without services simply because they could not afford them. Our clinic proudly accepts OW, ODSP, and CDCP, and we also help patients apply for the new federal dental coverage so they can confidently access more extensive treatments such as dentures and therapies that help preserve their natural teeth. At Gift from the Heart, we believe that access to dental and preventive oral health care is a basic human right.
