WHAT DOES “GIVE TIME” DO? Give Time is an initiative which started in 2010, two years after it became officially a foundation. We were a group of volunteers who collected books in their homes or at work, and at the end of each month we bring them in orphanages. We visited dozens of these homes, and brought thousands of books and we took a lot of people who want to communicate with the children. So we learned that the communication was what was most needed and what gives result and change in the children. Now we are looking for more people (but books as well) who want to go out there and get acquainted with the children, to make friends with them, to visit each other for birthdays, send them a book as a present for the first school day, and even have someone to share your concerns when you fall in love for the first time – or just everything a friend can do. And then, when you have confidence, as his friends have, they will believe you that books are important, and will also believe that life is not like the orphanage and they should be ready for it. And when you see that they have become bold and feisty young people and you have helped a little bit for this, it’s worth all the time.
