Giz Mozambique

GIZ has been working in Mozambique since 1985, addressing challenges such as poverty, limited access to basic services, and the impacts of conflict and climate change. GIZ in Mozambique works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (DEZA) in Mozambique. The priority areas of cooperation are: • Sustainable economic development, training and employment • Climate and energy • Peaceful and inclusive societies To improve young people’s access to training and jobs, GIZ is working to align vocational education and training more closely with the labour market. It is also creating jobs through cooperation with the private sector. At the same time, small farmers and fisheries are being integrated into supply chains in order to boost their participation in economic development. To stabilize supply, GIZ is promoting the expansion of renewable energies and greater energy efficiency. It is improving financing and the use of clean cooking technologies. It is also supporting partners in Mozambique in developing a just and climate-friendly energy market. With GIZ’s support, cities and municipalities can provide improved services to their citizens and facilitate greater participation in important decisions. In communities in the north that host large numbers of displaced people, GIZ is providing support to improve living conditions for those affected and strengthen social cohesion. Through these initiatives, GIZ supports Mozambique's sustainable development and recovery. The registered offices of GIZ are in Bonn and Eschborn (Germany).
