Global Clearinghouse For Development Finance

The Global Clearinghouse for Development Finance (GCH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the capacity of governments, development agencies, and the private sector to collaborate cost-effectively in mobilizing the private sector for development. GCH activities are specifically designed to address impediments at the operational level by providing management tools, training, and advisory aimed at improving business-enabling environments, use of risk mitigation instruments, innovative finance, public-private partnerships, improved private sector social responsibility, investment promotion and SME linkages, and stronger risk management for a more stable and sustainable global financial system. The three current Financing for Development Tools managed by GCH consist of:(1) an open portal on investment information covering 160 countries,(2) an open portal on infrastructure investment and risk mitigation techniques, and (3) a hosted service for networks aimed at improving business-environments. In September 2010, GCH and the UN Capital Development Fund officially started the Local Development Finance Initiative Programme (“LDFI”) to promote business-enabling environments conducive to private sector growth and introduce innovative approaches to attracting financing from the domestic financial sector for high priority local investments of importance for local private sector growth.
