I am passionate about helping brands solve human problems with new products, services and emotive experiences. Like many who find themselves drawn to experience design, I have a storied background across multiple disciplines. I began my career in print and journalism, publishing an indy arts and culture magazine I started in Northern Michigan after college. The fabled weirdness of Portland drew me to the Pacific Northwest, and shortly after arriving I co-founded an ecommerce startup called ShopIgniter—building the UX department from the ground up, I helped us obtain $11MM in venture capital investment. ShopIgniter was acquired by Mixpo in 2014. From there I transitioned into agency life. I first designed and developed websites for regional Portland businesses with local darling OMFGco, then served as a UX Lead designing interactive experiences for multinational brands at Wieden + Kennedy. After nearly four years leading the UX department at AKQA Portland, I served for 2 years as a remote Associate Creative Director for YML — where my work for Kaiser Permanente won a Webby and was recognized by Fast Company. In my spare time I write creative nonfiction, speculative fiction, and poetry. Daily meditation practice and connecting with nature helps keep me grounded. I’ve worked with Kaiser Permanente, Albertsons, TurboTax, American Express, Coca-Cola, Verizon, and Nike.
