Gnyp Gallery

GNYP Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded by the art historian Marta Gnyp in 2015 in Berlin. Under the management of Marta Gnyp and Giovanni Springmeier, the gallery represents and exhibits international artists in different stages of their careers, paying special attention to global orientation and the exploration of identity in a broader sense. GNYP Gallery has shown established artists such as Wojciech Fangor, ULAY, and Rose Wylie, while simultaneously promoting emerging, Berlin-based artists such as Kaifan Wang, Umut Yasat, and Aiste Stancikaite. The gallery's continuous efforts have led to numerous cooperations with international museums and art institutions, such as Gina Beaver’s solo exhibition The Life I Deserve at MoMA PS1 in 2019. In 68 ambitious exhibitions so far, organised over the course of the last 8 years, the gallery has been committed to nourishing various artistic positions by promoting artists such as Jenna Gribbon, Danica Lundy, Ursula Reuter Christiansen and Christopher Hartmann. In April 2023, GNYP Gallery expanded its activities with the opening of a new space in Antwerp, a multi-story historical building including a private apartment used for artistic residencies fostered by the gallery. Additionally, GNYP Gallery continues to be consistently engaged in publishing artist catalogues, considering it an important contribution to the reflections on contemporary art practice. Including essays by internationally acclaimed art critics, the gallery publications include the catalogues on Gina Beavers (2019), Brian Harte (2020), and the successful monograph on Jenna Gribbon’s oeuvre (2021). Marta Gnyp, who has been active in the international art scene as author and art advisor, has also published several books about the contemporary art market and its agents.
