Established in 2017, Golden Pineapple (GP) is a certified organic pineapple cultivation and processing company in northern Shan State, Myanmar. We have been growing pineapple and working with local farmers since 2015. We currently farm 89 hectares (ha) of pineapple, working with 97 farmers and 2.2 million plants. On average, our pineapple trees are five years old and can be harvested at 12 months. We produce 800 tons annually of dried pineapple, pineapple juice, and canned pineapple chunks and rings at our purpose-built factory. We also produce other canned fruit juices and jams. Golden Pineapple prides itself on excellent environmental and social practices and fair pay. We have a mission to provide sustainable livelihoods for all our farmers. We are a well-respected pineapple producer and established the Pineapple Association of Northern Shan State in 2017. The association includes 886 growers who cultivate more than 1,011 ha, totalling 250 million pineapple plants. Our export markets include Australia, China, and Singapore, and more recently, Japan, UAE, USA, EU, and South Korea, in addition to domestic market sales. Prior to COVID-19, we exported 300 tons a day of fresh pineapple. We gained Myanmar and US FDA certification in 2018, and organic certification in 2018/2019 (Myanmar and EU, Control Union) and 2019/2020 (Japan JAS, USA Control Union) certification, respectively. We have also been Halal certified since 2019. All of our certifications are renewed annually. Beyond pineapple, our production has expanded to include other canned fruit juices and jams. Our products go hand in hand with good environmental and social practices, fair pay, and sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
