goodthinkingjones has existed as an idea, a dream for many years. I've always been energised by training, mentoring and coaching people to reach their potential. Whilst I've been able to scratch that itch as a charity CEO, I'm now giving up the day job to focus on gtj full-time and, I'm combining it with my love of running. Running is a big part of my identity. it's what gives me the headspace for all that goodthinking! Whilst I'm based in Liverpool, UK, my coaching is online, as it's about training your brain, not yelling at you from the side of a track. So I'm happy to work with you wherever you're based! I love everything from parkruns to ultras and so far, I’ve run 9 marathons (3 of those as a support runner). I’ve helped others with realistic training plans, how to fundraise, what to eat, what to wear, and how to keep going. This is while holding down a busy job, training and fundraising for my own marathons, volunteering at parkrun and as a run leader, baking, paddleboarding, spending time with my friends and family…. so I know it’s possible to fit it all in and still cross the finish line with a massive smile on your face. In my experience, the running isn’t the hardest bit of a marathon, it’s actually about- fitting everything in and staying sane - finding a training plan that reflects ‘real life’ - cold mornings and dark nights, shift work (and shit days at work), periods, after-school activities… - keeping your support network 100% behind you- without becoming a running bore - raising money (especially if you have a charity place with a minimum target)- navigating all the advice and information so you can work out what to wear, what to eat, the logistics of race day, without feeling completely overwhelmed.
