Despite the seemingly simple core definition of PA (physical attractiveness)- how pleasing someone or something looks - it connects with significant complexities and vital consequences. And, with PAP (physical attractiveness phenomenon) defined as the collective realities of PA, these realities align with succinct adages that,"looks are far more than meets the eye" and "looks may be skin deep but their effects run much much deeper." Sometimes termed "lookism", individuals are treated in ways biased by their level of physical attractiveness. Generally and overwhelmingly, benefits flow to individuals higher in PA whereas detriments flow to their counterparts lower in PA. However discomforting the realities, what you look like - or, more important, how your looks are perceived, by both you and others - shapes your life in dozens of subtle and not so subtle ways from cradle to grave.
