Green Dewitt Drainage District

Established in 1914 after a petition by area residents, our mission is "to provide, improve and maintain the drainage systems within our jurisdiction, resulting in increased safety and enhanced quality of life within our community". Our area of operation is in the general vicinity of Cuero, Texas. In a mostly flat area, surrounded on two sides by the Guadalupe River, our goal is to remove excess water in the most efficient manner possible. We are a taxing entity, separate both the City of Cuero and from DeWitt County. We are governed by a three-member board of directors who are appointed to two year terms by the local Commissioners Court. Our administrative office houses the records of the District, and is also the place where regular board meetings are held. Routine maintenance operations are currently contracted to a local landscaping company.
