Green Home Transformations

Green Home is a social enterprise focused on eliminating the detrimental effect plastic waste has on the environment and our health, the need for schools and clinics, the lack of employment opportunities that exist for vulnerable populations, and the need for high-quality construction materials. We see waste as an opportunity that is just untapped resources, obsessed with waste, and recycling all types of plastics i.e. PET, PVC, PP, HDPE, PS, LDPE, etc into sustainable construction materials like blocks, bricks, and pavers to make new materials for new manufacturing and new circular economies. Every day, Uganda generates around 600 metric tons of plastic waste. Currently, most of these are poorly disposed of on the landfill, drainage systems, and some are burned, which releases lethal carcinogens, toxins, and CO2 into the environment. These substances affect the health of humans, animals, and the environment. Poor disposal of plastic waste on the landfill causes soil pollution leading to soil infertility thus poor agricultural outputs and can create a breeding ground for mosquitos.
