GreenSoils Pvt Ltd (GSL) was established in 1991 by Mr Chandra Senanayake (founder) to diversify away from the traditional trading companies he founded, namely Ceylon Supply Development, Swedish Trading Company and General Sales Company. He journeyed towards the agriculture industry, focusing on value-added exports. With a very minimum capital involvement and labour force, the initial years, the business was complicated due to the product being new to the international markets. Fortunately, the demand grew as the global agriculture market started using greenhouses to produce foods and vegetables. Today, the company acts as an OEM manufacturer for many international companies from France, Spain, Japan, South Africa, Poland, Australia, Italy, USA, South American countries and Israel. Greensoils provides an “eco-friendly alternate to soil” (growing medium) with better characteristic than its counterparts to produce the fruits/vegetables to feed the increasing populations. In the past five years, GSL has ventured into catering directly to large growers under its brand name and used explicitly in growing Tomatoes and medical Cannabis.
