Greentrike

Greentrike is the parent company that powers the Children’s Museum of Tacoma and the Children’s Museum at JBLM. Greentrike started its journey as the Children’s Museum of Tacoma but quickly grew to become more than just a museum. Greentrike currently supports a myriad of programs that serve children and youth across Pierce County. Our Museums are Pay As You Will admission, where visitors contribute through donations. This admission model is the only one of its kind among children’s museums across the nation. Children’s Museum of Tacoma is an interactive play-based facility located in the heart of downtown Tacoma. Each year the Museum’s Pay As You Will Admission serves over visitors. Children’s Museum at JBLM is the first ever children’s museum on a military base. Our Museum at JBLM is designed to serve military families by providing programming and access to dynamic playscapes within JBLM. Greentrike continues to expand beyond its roots to provide programs that honor children and champion play. Greentrike offers child-centered programs such as Play to Learn and Preschool Powered by Play. Play to Learn is the county’s largest outreach program for children and their adults. This free, drop in program engages participants in fun group activities that support age appropriate development in young children. Greentrike's Preschool Powered by Play program is inspired by the best in early childhood education. At our preschool, facilitators listen, observe, and provoke thoughtful investigations to follow the emergent interests of children within the intentionally designed play-based classroom.
