Groundwork Therapy

Groundwork Therapy was founded in 2018 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn with the objective of creating convenient access to experienced Clinical Psychologists for the residents and professionals of Central Brooklyn. We are committed to providing high quality, contemporary psychotherapy services to this creative, diverse, and dynamic neighborhood. In addition to establishing a safe, confidential, accessible therapy practice, the founders aimed to design a professional office space with a modern and relatable aesthetic. It felt important to name our Brooklyn therapy practice in a way that both captures the special energy of Brooklyn and relates to the process of psychotherapy. The founders chose “groundwork” because of its associations to Brooklyn’s constant growth, reinvention, and evolution. It also serves as a metaphor for psychotherapy, which can be understood as the foundational work necessary before positive change can take place. All growth – be it structural or intra/interpersonal – starts with the groundwork. The licensed clinical psychologists at Groundwork Therapy have extensive experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults and couples. We welcome individuals of all genders, sexualities and cultural backgrounds. Our Canine-Assisted Therapy dog, Apollo, is available during individual and group sessions.
