Our Story This story began as one of rebellion, pragmatism and a yearning for change. It is now a story about providing a fresh perspective; to ensure the power of change, choice, health and growth, is in our and your hands too. A new system for grocery shopping, a new tool for shifting the flow of money away from the fat cats and into your neighbours hands, as well a place to meet those who are growing your food. Who knows, maybe together we can inspire more home gardening, self sufficiency, and community engagement. We grew tired of the doom and gloom narrative. As we are all now aware, the world is changing rapidly and it's under constant threat with a changing climate, but rather than the feeling of 'this is too overwhelming to act' and 'this problem is too big and it's not mine', we decided to break it down into bite sized pieces. We know that waiting for the world around us to change doesn't just happen. It is up to each of us to find our path, find a way through the obstacles and become the change we expect to see in the world. For us, that change is hope not doom, positive action rather than being stricken by fear and a tenacious outlook on democratising the growth of food. This ancient skill set should be accessible to the many, not the few. We know that through enhancing connections we can enrich communities and ultimately see conscious shifts in the right direction. The age old saying ‘think global, act local’ sums up Growcery’s vision quite well. We are creating a completely interconnected, global grow-operative approach, where local gardeners can inspire more and more people to grow for themselves, allowing everyone to put faith in their own hands that they can change the system we live in from their own backyard, terrace, rooftop or kitchen.
