GYMetrix is the first company in the gym industry to measure, report and advise on the level of service gyms offer their customers around the metric 'Equipment Availability' Our research proves that 'Equipment Availability' is one of the most important value drivers for gym customers. Customers primary reason for joining a gym is to use its' equipment, if the equipment is not available, because other customers are constantly using it, the value of the gym drops sharply, as does their overall satisfaction with the gym. Low 'equipment availability'= Low gym value = Unhappy customers = Low retention. We measure 'equipment availability' through attaching very discrete, wireless sensors to all the equipment within a gym, on a temporary basis. The sensors detect when equipment is in use and when it is available. As well as collecting hard data from the sensors we also conduct customer surveys asking equipment specific questions. We can then work out how to optimise the types, quantities and locations of equipment to maximise the customers experience and the gyms investment in equipment. Furthermore we can advise on 'demand side management' where instead of altering the supply of equipment, instructors and PTs alter the demand pattern of customers through inductions, interactions and education. Simply we optimise the gym customers experience by ensuring they have 'enough equipment of their choice'. Either through adjusting the 'equipment supply' or adjusting their 'demand choices' or a combination of both.
