There are moments in the evolution of the human species such as the discovery of Fire, the ability to build flying machines, and most recently the explosion of the internet and social media that define the very direction we take as humans. These innovations disrupt the normal business and day-to-day of “Business as Usual”. The solutions and thoughts look to provide an equalizer for all Tanzanians to be able to participate in Economic Activities, pay taxes, and profess a New Digital Africa is possible that is, accountable and fiscally sound. After the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum (MTLF) themed “ Empowering the Youth with Relevant Knowledge and Skills” 2019, which was well attended by Policy Makers, Principal Government officials, Donors, Education sector Stakeholders, and Students from Universities, Technical Institutes, Vocational Training Centers, and numerous Secondary Schools, the Senior Management Team (Excom) using their Digital Department under the leadership and stewardship of Mr. Francis Nanai began innovating and developing a strategy towards the practical execution of the suggestion made during the forum. This gave birth to HabariHub. The HabariHub is both a physical, digital, and virtual space that looks to incubate and accelerate Ideas and Startups in the Digital Journalistic Space. Our Belief: HabariHub believes it can accelerate the success of Tech-Journalism-Innovators in Tanzania by providing unparalleled access to powerful business connections, technical knowledge & platforms, governing business principles, and Mobilizing catalytic funds. The smartest, most innovative individuals will be accepted into the HabariHub domain as partners, interns, mentees, and incubatee’s. Currently, Dar es Salaam already has several Technology Incubators and Hubs; however, none of these focuses specifically on Journalism and the use of current technologies for Journalistic entrepreneurship and innovation.
