Hack Weekly

Hello and welcome to the Hack Weekly community. This community is dedicated to building the next generation of software developers. You might be self taught, a bootcamp/university student, or maybe you even work in the industry currently. There is always something to be learned from your peers, and your knowledge will be strengthened by teaching what you know. That’s why we take a peer learning approach that is as close as possible to real world software scenarios. You will work within a team to problem solve, and hopefully produce a killer project over the course of 1-2 weeks. It’s like a hackathon on steroids. Your learning will be hands-on and directed by the specific needs of each project, and you will be supported by teammates of varying skill levels, who will push you to achieve more than you ever could alone. Here are the key points- You will join a team with ~6 peers, of varying levels of skill (use the 'team-search' forum)- Private team channels will be created, so you can coordinate directly on the server- Projects for each cycle will be voted on server wide. Every team works on the same project, that way you can bounce ideas off each other and discuss across team lines- Within your group, you will decide the best ways to get to the finish line- Failure is ok, and expected- Mentors will be available, guiding you in the right directions- Compete against other teams to have the best project for each cycle. Not only will you gain/share technical knowledge, you will also sharpen your skills of working with a team, something absolutely necessary in the industry.
