HAFJALL Consulting catalyzes business growth via leadership development primarily through the use of executive coaching and mentoring. Executive Coaching Based on a helping relationship between a leader or manager in an organisation (the client) and a consultant who uses a wide variety of behavioral techniques and methods, the coach helps the client achieve a mutually identified set of goals with the aim of improving his or her professional performance and personal satisfaction. Ultimately, this enhances the effectiveness of the client’s organisation and thereby catalyzes growth - both personally and for the organisation. It is all carried out within a formally defined coaching agreement. In a coaching setup all the work and development is therefore placed with the client and the role as the coach is to catalyze the growth in the client by building trust and creating a safe and supporting space where development can thrive - a development accelerated by thought provoking questions and techniques used by the coach. Like in professional sport, the client may be much better than the coach in their field, as the coach role is not to lead by example/mentoring but to facilitate the growth in the client based on questions and various behavioral techniques. Mentoring The act or process of helping and giving advice to an often younger or less experienced person - within a given area or field. This can be in leadership in general but also more specific areas like leading transformation, leading across cultures, leading self, and career planning to list a few. Mentoring therefore differs from coaching in the sense, that the mentor shares own experiences and thoughts and thereby seek to inspire or open the mentees mind for new ways of doing things. A coach will only rarely ask for permission to share own experiences and thoughts. Both forms for support are incredibly helpful in catalyzing growth in executives, but aim at different stages and challenges.
