The Global Halal Market is growing at a phenomenal rate. Growth is projected at an annual rate of 7.5 % whilst its value will increase from USD 2.0 Tn currently to USD 2.8 Tn in 2025. The growing importance of halal and emphasis towards compliance has resulted in countries differing on applicable management and product standards. This has resulted in halal certification becoming a barrier to exports and imports both. The OIC-SMIIC has in recent years emphasized the need for comprehensive common standards that its members may adopt for streamlined implementation and removal of trade barriers. Those compliant with these standards would then be in a position to export to OIC countries. Alhumdulillah, several members countries have formally adopted these standards and we hope to see greater adoption in the near future by the remaining members. Until we have comprehensive adoption and implementation by member countries, companies will continue to face challenges when exporting to members countries. HalalPro was founded on the premise that many companies do not have a reliable reference to assist and provide support in developing competence and implementing compliance for these countries. As certification bodies are not permitted to provide consultancy services, it was felt tha this dire need and vacuum must be filled. HalalPro seeks to add value and provide impetus to the Halal industry in achieving excellence by engaging with all the stakeholders in the halal supply chain, from industry and certification bodies, to accreditation agencies and governmental authorities, and even consumer action groups.
